What goverment programs are available to start a small business? I know taxes have gone up this pass year and
some businesses have closed. How can I get the most out of owning a business when filing my taxes?

Is there a way to calculate an estimated tax refund for 2008 without having a W-2?
I should clarify: Does anyone know a website calculator to do this? One does not need a W-2
Do I hire a 1099 or Employee to work my booth at a Flea Market?
I sale at a flea market every weekend. I’m wanting to hire/ employee my Nephew for the summer to allow him to make some extra money. First and foremost I guess is, he’s 17, what is the min age for a 1099 contractor?
Second.. I run everything legit and pay all the taxes on all my sales etc so I wouldn’t want to just pay him under the table as that is not the correct thing to do. Unless there is a loophole with that?
So do I hire him as a 1099 or employee? It would be Sat & Sun for 3 months. I know it would make the most sense to just give him cash under the table and be done with it, but I don’t want the IRS knocking on my door over something like this.
Also, what are the procedures to either make him a 1099 or employee? I’ve never hired anyone.
Also, this is in Texas.

Hi…..need some quick tax help.
I bought a new car in Illinois a month ago. live in Illinois, however, my car is registered in Iowa…..how would I declare this on my tax return? I’m filing an Illinois return since I live and work here.

anyone who knows anything about tax refunds?
I did my taxes on turbotax.com and claimed myself on accident. I got it straitened out with the irs so that my dad could still claim me but i’m curious to know if im supposed to still recieve a tax refund. I had an extra 300 in my bank account this morning and it said tax refund, but my dad told me they probably messed up and that money was supposed to go to him and the irs wil probably fix it. true or false?
